About Us

Bettws Rugby Club – Newport, Wales

Founded in 1983, Bettws Rugby Club has proudly been at the heart of the Bettws community for over forty years. The official opening of our clubhouse in 1984 marked the start of a lasting legacy — a home for local rugby, friendship, and community spirit.

Competing in the WRU Division 5 East League, our men’s amateur team embodies everything that makes Welsh rugby special: passion, commitment, and a strong sense of camaraderie. Over the years, Bettws RFC has grown into a club where players, supporters, and families alike share a deep sense of belonging and pride in representing our community.

Beyond the rugby pitch, Bettws Rugby Club is known for its welcoming atmosphere and lively social scene. Our clubhouse offers a range of entertainment facilities available to everyone, including a pool table, multiple dartboards, and a skittle alley. We are proud to host two passionate dart teams that regularly compete and bring additional energy to the club.

Our large function room, available for hire, frequently hosts music nights, social gatherings, celebrations, and community events, helping to strengthen the bonds that make Bettws such a close-knit community.

We also take great pride in giving back — raising money for local and national charities wherever possible through events, raffles, and community initiatives. This commitment to helping others reflects the core values that define our club: teamwork, respect, and community spirit.

Our success and continued growth wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, whose contributions help us maintain our facilities, support our players, and ensure that rugby remains accessible to everyone.

As we look to the future, Bettws Rugby Club remains dedicated to fostering local talent, supporting our community, and upholding the values that have guided us since 1983.
